Love Is Patient

 
The KJV says "suffereth long" I am living proof that Love is longsuffering.
Oh that we could be so patient. We live in an instant world, Instant messaging, texting. "fast" food, drive thru pharmacies , fast cars and even faster trains and planes. It seems we are always in such a hurry to get here and there, just let there be a traffic jam - ever heard of road rage?

An important biblical characteristic of love is patience. Sometimes a loved one’s growth, maturity, understanding and development will take much longer than we expected. Can we graciously allow the process to unfold in that person’s life over time?  Can we deal with our frustration over how long it’s taking without bursts of anger or temper tantrums?  Love is patient.

Love will inspire you to become a patient person.  When you choose to be patient, you respond in a positive way to a negative situation.  You are slow to anger.  You choose to have a long fuse instead of a quick temper.  Rather than being restless and demanding, love helps you settle down and begin extending mercy to those around you.  Patience brings an internal calm during an external storm.

No one likes to be around an impatient person.  It causes you to overreact in angry, foolish and regrettable ways.  The irony of anger toward a wrongful action is that it spawns new wrongs of its own.  Anger almost never makes things better.  In fact, it usually generates additional problems.  But patience stops problems in their tracks.  More than biting your lip, more than clapping a hand over your mouth, patience is a deep breath.  It clears the air.  It stops foolishness from whipping its scorpion tail all over the room.  It is a choice to control your emotions rather than allowing your emotions to control you, and shows discretion instead of returning evil for evil.

Many Of The Important Things Take Time

It is our tendency to want things right away.  But certain worthwhile things in life take time. The development of wisdom takes time. Relationships of real trust and intimacy take time. Spiritual depth and maturity takes time. Let’s not rush the important things, let’s be willing to patiently invest the time that they require and that they deserve.

In order to sync with Love we must first accept God's infinitely patient Love for us. we need to be still and know that He is Love. Once we realign with Love, then we can manifest a Love that is infinitely patient.

Ephesians 3:16-19
pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
